So first off I'm so sorry I haven't been blogging AT ALL lately. School is getting more annoying, I mean more academically challenging. Well, not really just the teachers are giving out more homework than ever and the classes seem to be never ending. And second off the answers for my "Imagination" post will be posted shortly just I'm hoping more people will try and guess.. Anyways I've decided to talk to y'all about a book I actually read for school. In English class we read this book called Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry which I thought was going to really boring but it was really not. I had skimmed through it a year or so ago and I hadn't really liked it but this year I suddenly really enjoyed it, so I guess you never know! It was about the Great Depression and racism and a nine year old African American girl named Cassie. Its such an intricate and neatly-woven story that I can't really sum it up in a couple sentences but basically its about this girl named Cassie (as I already said) and she lives in Minnesota with her grandma, Mama, Papa and three brothers. They're the richest African American family around as they have land but they have trouble paying it off as the whites really do not want African Americans to own land.
It really is an amazing book and I do hope that you read it or if you have read it, that you've enjoyed it!
I LOVE THAT BOOK! I thought the same thing: boring.
ReplyDeleteBut when I actually took the time to read it (well actually I listened to it on CD) I absolutely adored it.
Am I allowed to ask exactly where you live?
Well, not exactly.... just like what country/state/province....
DeleteYeah, I live in Pennsylvania where do you live?
DeleteCool! Yeah, writers have their own way of story-telling, so usually there might be some boring parts to the book but once you keep reading it, you get hooked. That is what happened to me before too.
ReplyDeleteGuess what? You are chosen for the "Reader Appreciation Award." Here's the link: http://hildald.blogspot.com/2013/02/reader-appreciation-award.html
